WPP\’s Data Alliance has expanded its reach to Mumbai, India, where it will draw on expertise from group companies to help clients activate eCommerce, mobile and social media data strategies. Data Alliance in India is supported by GroupM (Mindshare, Maxus, MEC, Mediacom, Motivator, Xaxis and Madhouse), Kantar (IMRB, Millward Brown, TNS and Worldpanel), Wunderman and Ogilvy. Collectively, these companies will partner on projects to enhance the use of data across WPP solutions increasing speed, cross-fertilization and decreasing costs in this strategic market.
Global panel Marketplace platform provider Cint has opened an office in Hong Kong and hired James Rogers to lead the continued expansion of its Asian business. Rogers, former managing director for Toluna (APAC), has been appointed regional head of supply acquisition and APAC MD and will lead the continued expansion of Cint’s business in Asia. The Japanese business has moved to new premises to accommodate current expansion and “facilitate future growth out of its Tokyo premises, which acts as a sales and operations hub for the region”.
dunnhumby, leading customer science company, has selected Toluna, pioneer in the dynamic world of market research, reporting, and visualisation, to power its Behavioral Attitudinal Research (dunnhumby BAR®) platform. The dunnhumby BAR® rapid research platform draws upon data from 17+ million shoppers and has the capability to gather attitudinal data in real-time – providing a deeper understanding of shoppers and what they think, feel, and do. Toluna’s technology platform provides dunnhumby BAR® users with real-time access to insights.
India-based MR technology and operations company Annik has expanded with the opening of a new office in Hyderabad – its third opening this year. Annik was established in 2000 and provides off-shore data and analytics solutions including configurable workflow automation products. The global headcount of current Annik full time employees is now over 870 people in 5 global locations including; Gurgaon HQ, and Hyderabad in India; Warsaw in Poland; Dalian in China; and Seattle, Washington, USA.
Asia’s premier market research solution platform provider GMO Research, Inc, has agreed to form a strategic capital and business alliance with China’s leading Ad network – Ignite Vision Holdings. GMO Research’s China Cloud Panel will now become the number one panel in China in terms of reach with the capability to meet the highest levels of demand from US/EU region clients. Ignite Vision and GMO Research have agreed to partner for greater business synergy in the core business domain of panel platform business in China, and to develop a variety of new panels for clients seeking to research in China.
US-based mobile campaign attribution analytics and optimization firm Kochava has opened an office in Seoul, South Korea. Through its mobile attribution platform, Kochava provides mobile advertisers with real-time visualization of campaign data that spans from initial launch, through conversion and lifetime value reporting, including post-install event tracking. The Korean operations will be led by David Son, who previously helped launch the Korean office for app store analytics firm App Annie.

Tokyo-based panels and technology company Research Panel Asia (RPA) is changing its name to dataSpring, following its acquisition by Marketing Applications Inc. (MApps). The combined company, created by a stock swap deal in July, will offer market researchers and end clients a package including global sample (4 million buy valium 10 mg plus panellists in more than 35 countries), full service, and a proprietary survey programming and tabulation tool.
Online specialist MACROMILL-MetrixLab has appointed Scott Ernst as Chief Executive Officer. He replaces Han De Groot, who will remain as a member of the Board and provide advice to the leadership team on portfolio choices and strategy. Ernst joins after helping set up four venture-backed start-ups; serving as Millward Brown President, responsible for overall management of the firm\’s digital business; and working for WPP sister company Compete, where he oversaw strategy and operations.
Leading global business intelligence firm ORC International announced today the retirement of Asia/Pacific Managing Director Greg Wayman per December 31, 2015, and the recruitment of Oliver Rust as his successor. Wayman and his partner Paul Chong founded NWC Research in 1993 and sold it to ORC International in 2007, becoming members of its Global Leadership Team. Oliver Rust joins ORC International from The Nielsen Company, where he was Global Senior Vice President, Financial Services.
Global research consultancy TNS announced the appointment of Anne Rayner as Global Head of Communications Research. Rayner has more than fifteen years\’ experience in brand and communications, with a focus on digital and social media research and with specialisation in brand tracking, touchpoint research and communication dontdontevaluation. In her new role based in Sydney, Anne will be responsible for developing and implementing the firm’s global communications research growth strategy.
Full service agency MRSS India continues to build its senior team, with the appointments of Rajesh Kumar as Transportation and Logistics Practise Guru; Chandramouli Guin as the Head of its Public Sector practice; and Manish Ganvir as Vice President – Insight Sciences. Rajesh K has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and MBA in Marketing, and is also an Alumnus of IIMA. Chandramouli has a background in market research and business advisory services across the industry, trade and development sectors in India. Ganvir has just completed his Fellowship in Strategic Management at IIM Lucknow, having previously served as Research Director at TNS.
GfK has announced that Debbie Pruent will retire at the end of December, and will be replaced by David Krajicek as Chief Commercial Officer for the Consumer Experiences sector. In addition, Alessandra Cama will take up the new role of Chief Operations Officer. At the beginning of next year, Pruent will be replaced by Krajicek, who currently serves as Regional COO North America, Consumer Experiences, and whose title will be Chief Commercial Officer Consumer Experiences. Cama, currently Regional COO APAC, Consumer Choices, will join the Board as COO, responsible for all local and global operations functions across GfK.
Berlin-based mobile user data specialist zeotap has appointed former InMobi VP Neeraj Singh to lead its Advertising division in India. In addition, the company continues to grow its Global Technology Centre in Bengaluru. Singh joins from mobile advertising network InMobi, where he served as VP and General Manager – Global Online and Inside Business, and before this spent seven years at Dell India, latterly as General Manager, Global Segment.
Market research firm IMRB International has appointed former Cafe Coffee Day marketing head K Ramakrishnan as general manager of IMRB Kantar Worldpanel. Established in 1971, IMRB is a member of WPP\’s Kantar Group with offices across fourteen countries and 32 cities. Ramkrishnan joins with more than twenty years’ sales, marketing, product planning and strategy experience, with a focus on consumer insight mining and brand strategy.
